Congratulations to all of our 2023 winners!

All of our 13 scholarships have been awarded now. We had a very special circumstance this year and we want to share it with you...

Midway through our Committee's assessment of the record number (59) of applications this year, one of our applicants, Naod Asres, from Oakland Mills, reached out to withdraw his name from consideration because he had received a scholarship from his University. He wanted to make sure another deserving student would benefit from a BLG Scholarship. We appreciate his concern for others and accepted his request. However, his application had already been assessed and scored the highest of all applications. Due the generosity of our donors, we were able to fund an additional scholarship. We chose to recognize Naod for his character and award him the BLG Scholarship that he clearly earned.

The Bowen Leadership Group is honored to award 13 scholarships this year to the outstanding scholar-leaders identified below. We look forward to 2024 and meeting our next set of outstanding applicants!

Welcome

The Bowen Leadership Group is incorporated in the state of Maryland as a non-profit organization and is a Federally designated 501(c)(3) charitable organization. All donations are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law.

Goals

The primary goal of the Bowen Leadership Group is to recognize graduating high school students in Howard County, Maryland who have demonstrated excellence in both academic and leadership experiences. We are looking for tomorrow's leaders as they move from high school into post-secondary education opportunities.

The Bowen Leadership Group awards a $500 scholarship at Wilde Lake and Oakland Mills High Schools the best qualified female and male applicant from each school.

Beginning in 2019, the Bowen Leadership Group expanded its reach across Howard County with the addition of one $500
"At Large" scholarship to the best qualified graduating student-leaders from Howard County high schools. For 2023, we will award eight "At Large" scholarships to the highest rated applications.

Eligibility and selection criteria will be published with the annual Scholarship Application announcement. The Scholarship Committee is composed of a selection of current, former, and retired educators and students from Howard County high schools. More details are available on the Scholarship page.
